If you want to learn yoga while having fun and entertainment then yoga for Wii is quite an option. It is a new Wii yoga game that enables you to learn yoga in an interesting way? But, is it just as good? Let us find out.
Yoga for Wii VS Nintendo's Wii Fit system Since Yoga for Wii and Yoga on Nintendo's Wii Fit system are quite similar, a comparison between the two is inevitable. The Yoga on Nintendo's Wii Fit system achieved a mixed response. While it offered accurate information on yoga, the alignment taught in certain yoga poses was inaccurate. Besides, the game was quite cumbersome and time consuming.
Since Yoga for Wii came in later, it is expected to be better than its predecessor. However, unfortunately enough, this is not the case. As a matter of fact, the Yoga for Wii is worse than its predecessor. Even the basic work of this game i.e. the graphics are not up to the mark. The graphics are tiny and dark, which makes them too difficult to follow.
Available in three modes Yoga for Wii is available in three different modes namely- Training, Series and Story. Though these three modes are more or less the same, there are certain basic differences that segregate them.
Training mode- This mode comprises of three distinct yoga poses. The on screen teacher is tiny and dark, which can make it difficult for you to follow it. The only good part about this mode is that it allows you to access all the yoga poses at once, so you do not have to memorize it. This makes Yoga for Wii slightly better than its predecessor.
Series mode- The Series mode does not manage to impress either. The series mode comprises of yoga sessions that are meant to address ailments such as back ache and arthritis. However, none of them prove to be just as effectual. For instance, the back pain series comprises of various backbends. Most of these backbends would be difficult to practice for someone who is suffering from back pain. Besides, the on screen teacher does little to elaborate the poses.
Story mode- As the name suggests, this one revolved around a story. It puts you in a virtual yoga shala that educates you about yoga, its history and its benefits. In addition, it also present you with the opportunity to practice a few yoga poses. However, if you choose to practice any of these yoga poses, you will be thrown back into the training mode. Besides, this mode is completely boring. A few minutes into it and you will want to be out soon.
Considering the numerous flaws of Yoga for Wii, it would be only better if you opt for a yoga DVD.
