Yoga as a Remedy for Asthma
Yoga and asthma are related to each other in many ways. Asthma is a common respiratory problem, and can have severe consequences if not treated properly and in time. The basic cause of Asthma is the narrowing of the bronchioles and the bronchi.

The Respiratory system is made of lungs and the windpipe. The windpipe is also known as the trachea. The trachea brings in fresh oxygen into the lungs for respiration and give out carbon dioxide after respiration, with the help and means of the bronchioles and the bronchi. Due to an asthmatic condition, it becomes difficult for the patient to inhale, and especially to exhale air.

Yoga therapy, deep breathing exercises or Pranayama, and asanas help to regulate and clear the lungs, thereby enhancing the respiratory and circulatory system of the body. A couple of helpful remedial asthmatic yoga tips and yoga postures and yoga poses are stated below:

* Shoulder lifts or warm-ups: Sometimes it is seen, that many ailments of the body are due to stiffness in the shoulder and neck bones and muscles. These asanas help tone the muscles and improve flexibility.

* The easy pose or the Sukhasana: This yoga pose is usually done for meditation and is practiced after the Savasana. This pose is also known as the corpse pose. It helps in elongating the spine and improving focus and concentration.

* The Suryanamaskara or the Sun Salutation: It is an Ashtanga mode of exercise and is the foremost of all yoga exercises. Considered the best form of warm-up, it comprises a set of intensive breathing exercises that have a number of benefits.
 
* Anuloma Viloma: This pranayama enables you to breathe alternatively with the other nostril. It is a 2:8:4 technique. Ancient yogis were well aware of the fact that cause of asthma is  irregular breathing. Hence, they devised this technique of breathing.
