It is said that it is easy to make someone cry than to make him laugh. Laughter once considered to be the best medicine is nowhere to be seen nowadays. People tend to laugh only when things go wrong in others life. They have forgotten the last time they enjoyed a childlike laughter. In these stressful times, laughter yoga comes across as a fitness practice which is a complete health workout in which all you have to do is- laugh.
Laughter Yoga is a deceivingly simple, yet very dominant and very probable life changing form of exercise that anyone can practice anytime, anywhere. It is based on self triggered laughter which is physical in nature that does not have comedy or humor. It is believed that your body knows how to laugh irrespective of what your mind says. It is a body to mind connection rather than the other way round. You need to fake laughter until it becomes real.
Laughter Yoga is based on the hypothesis that the body cannot differentiate between a fake and a real laughter and their psychological and physiological benefits are the same. There are no jokes or comedy involved and there is also no judging.
Just because there is no brain work required, it eliminates ego and any kind of conflict. It helps build a better interpersonal relationship and boosts communication. Laughter is that lingo that smashes all barriers of caste, creed, age, sex and religion and unites people as one.
Laughter Yoga or Hasyayoga was conceptualized by Jiten Kohi which was later made popular as a fitness mantra by Dr Madan Kataria in the year 1995. Initially, there were a lot of joke telling to get the laughter initiated. He then actually realized that reciting HO, HO, HO and HA, HA, HA were equally beneficial. It is believed to be a combination of laughing and yogic breathing exercises (pranayama). This helps in the increase of more oxygen in the body and the brain. It also helps reduce pain and plays a vital role in healing, controlling stress levels and maintaining the mental equilibrium. It also teaches about the positive approach to life and strengthens you to face adversities.
Laughter Yoga is practiced worldwide in thousands of laughter clubs. You can join one of them for free. People regardless of age, sex and gender are allowed there to gather every morning to laugh.
