Kundalini

If you want a rather fast way of meeting the divine, then Kundalini is the best form f yoga you can practice.  Kundalini has several similarities with the hatha yoga as regards the asanas used in both of them. Kundalini yoga is perhaps the oldest form of yoga with its history dating some 50,000 years back. This yoga form is known to have been developed by seers in India and Tibet.

Asanas in Kundalini allow for energy to be able to move through the body, thereby energizing the chakras. Every asana in Kundalini incorporates pranayama. Other than that some common components of this form of yoga include flexing the spine, breathing and chanting. Through its distinctive asana, Kundalini helps clear off blockages in the body that may be the cause of various illnesses.

Practitioners of Kundalini yoga do what is known as Kundalini yoga kriyas. Kriyas basically refers to set of asanas that are done in a sequence and with a particular theme. The right warm up is very crucial before proceeding to these kriyas. This is because these kriyas can be physically taxing and thus require you to be well prepared. Here are some Kundalini yoga kriyas.

* Yoga stomach grind. To perform the yoga stomach grind sit down on a mat with legs crossed. Hold on to your knees. Now holding on the knees rotate your stomach in an anti clockwise direction. Do this for a minute. After this rotate your stomach in a clockwise direction for a minute. This kriya benefits digestion detoxifies the system and limbers lumbar region.

* Yoga camel ride. Sit on your heels and place you hands on your knees. As you inhale arch your back forward, and push out sternum. Do the reverse when you exhale. Since this exercise involves the stretching of back and spine, it opens solar plexus that allows energy to move freely throughout the body.

* Cat cow exercise. For this exercise place your hands shoulder part, and place your knees hip distance apart. Now inhale and simultaneously push your stomach to arch back down. Push your head up and open your eyes upward. This is the cow pose. While you exhale, contract stomach and arch your back with head down. This is the cat position. This exercise will help improve glands and eyesight.

* Yoga twist. Sit down with legs crossed. Now hold both your folders. Make sure that the fingers are in front and the thumbs are in back. As you inhale twist towards the left. And when you exhale twist towards the right. You may feel dizzy after performing this exercise. In such a case you must slow down.

* Yoga neck rolls. Sit with legs crossed. Open mouth in half yawn. For three minutes roll head in one direction for half the time. Repeat the same in another direction for the remaining half time.
