Revolved Half Moon Pose is a standing type of asana. Despite the balancing and twisting involved, it is an easy pose to perform.

How to do Revolved Half Moon Pose or Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana?

Step 1: Spread your legs wide, feet pointing outwards. Ease your left knee and place your left hand on your hip.

Step 2: Extend your right hand and touch it to the floor. Take care that the point of contact with the floor should be at least a foot ahead of the left foot. Place your palm on the floor, fingers pointing outwards.

Step 3: While kicking your right leg parallel to the floor, try to straighten out your left leg.

Step 4: Bend your upper body towards the left. Simultaneously bring your left arm to point towards the ceiling as well. Turn your neck in the same direction and look towards the fingertips of your left hand.

Step 5: Stay in the pose for about 15 to 30 seconds. To come out of the pose simply retrace your steps.

Step 6: Repeat the steps with the other side of your body.

Use of props:

Props can be used for beginner level yoga practitioners. Initially they would be unable to fully bend their back and touch the floor with their hand. Hence, to bring about the pull in the side of their torso they can place blocks on the floor and rest their hands on it. The height of the block could be adjusted according to the length of the practitioner's arm. Similarly, the wall could be used to help align the body.
