Relationship between Yoga and Meditation
Meditation is one of the five major principles of yoga. It is the epitome of yoga and yoga therapy and bestows upon oneself absolute concentration. The practice  helps people to understand themselves  better and imbibes them with a  sense of spirituality. Yoga and meditation complement each other, perfectly.

Prolonged meditation will help you realize and improve your mental and physical health. Researches have revealed that the practice  helps to reduce blood pressure and heartbeat and to decrease stress. It also helps ease the levels of plasma cortisol, reduce pulse rate, and increases the Electroencephalogram (EEG) readings.

This indicates increased alertness in the mind and the development of our reactionary senses. Meditation also helps reduce metabolism. Research indicates a decrease of 20 % in the oxygen consumption levels in people performing yogic exercises over a period.

However, it is not easy to muster and maintain concentration while meditating. Enlisted below are a few yoga tips that help us to concentrate during meditation:

* The Samadhi or place where you are to meditate should be quiet and clean.
* You should be comfortable with yourself and the yoga postures and yoga poses that you plan to meditate in.
* Do make sure that you carry out the asana and the breathing exercises or the pranayama properly as part of your warm up.
* Cleanse your mind of all thought and obstruct any thought, which comes into your mind. Keep your mind blank.
* Try and settle your focus on a singular object such as a candle.
