* Sit comfortably with your legs folded in the meditation position. Concentrate on the normal course of breathing. Observe how your chest expands with every breath and how it contracts when you breathe out.

* Try and avoid the use of diaphragm. Concentrate on your rib cage and start breathing by expanding and contracting the rib cage. Feel the movement of your chest and observe it expanding and contracting.

* Move your rib cage as much as you can. Try to fill in more and more air in to your lungs by expanding the rib cage to its fullest. Once the lungs are filed with air, hold your breath for a few moments.

* Exhale the air completely from your lungs. Let the muscles of the upper chest and the rib cage relax completely.

* Once comfortable with the process, start taking more deep breaths. This will allow your body to get more fresh air.

Repeat this activity at least 20 times everyday. While you perform chest breathing make sure that the abdomen does not move. Moving your chest alone will help to strengthen the muscles and make them strong and healthy. However, the movements should be performed without any kind of strain on the muscles. Too strong effort may leave you panting and your muscles strained rather than relaxed.
