* Put one hand on your abdomen and other on your chest. Start breathing and make sure that while you inhale the level of and on abdomen should be higher than the one on the chest. This way you will be able to grasp maximum air in the base of your lungs.

* Slowly exhale the air out of your lungs. While doing this, check the movement of your abdomen. Repeat the process of inhaling and exhaling and imagine your stomach like a ball that swells whenever you inhale.

* Concentrate on the movements of your body. Make sure the process of inhaling and exhaling is slow so that most of the air gets in.

After doing this exercise for sometime, your nerves will soothe and relax. Abdominal breathing helps you get rid of anxiety as well. Many doctors have recommended this exercise to patients suffering form hypertension and asthma. For best results, try doing this exercise in fresh air while sitting erect.
