Advanced yoga is the latest buzzword in the world of yoga. Owing to the numerous benefits that this yoga form has to offer, almost everyone wants to take it up. But, there are a couple of things that you need to know before you start off with the practice.
While almost anyone can practice basic yoga movements, advanced yoga is not for everyone. You can move on to advanced yoga only when you have skillfully mastered basic and intermediate yoga. One needs to understand that this yoga form is relatively complex and can be practiced only by experts. Only people who have been practicing yoga for several years can move on to advanced forms of yoga.
There are a couple of factors that you need to bear in mind before you switch to advanced yoga. Your overall health and the condition of your body are of crucial importance in case you are considering advanced yoga. There are several health conditions that do not permit practicing advanced yoga. Some of these conditions include cervical spine disease, wrist or shoulder injuries, arthritis and the like. In case you are suffering from any of these health problems, advanced yoga is a strict no-no for you.
Age is also another factor that needs to be considered before you take up advanced yoga. Since this form of yoga is pretty complex, it strains your body parts more than other physical exercise forms. If you are in a higher age bracket, then straining your body parts to such an extent will do you no good.
Once you have taken the above mentioned factors into consideration, you can go ahead with practicing this complex yoga form. If you are taking up advanced yoga, then be prepared to devote long hours to your yoga session. Unlike beginners and intermediate forms of yoga, advanced yoga requires longer hours of practice. This is because advanced yoga is relatively complicated as compared to other forms of yoga. You need to devote at least 2 hours daily to acquaint yourself with this difficult yoga form.
Another thing that you need to know before you take up advanced yoga is that this exercise form can be performed under the guidance of an expert only. Unlike basic and intermediate yoga forms, you cannot learn advanced yoga via DVDs or simply reading about advanced yoga poses on the internet. This exercise form is pretty complicated and if not done the right way it can affect your body as well.
Now that you know all of this, you would be better able to decide whether advanced yoga is for you or not.
